Jaguar VI Guitar Routing Templates
A modification on the classic short scale surf guitar. This design is a mashup of the Jaguar and Electric XII, but retains the shorter 24" scale and 6 string neck. Electric XII styled split pickups are used, as well as a Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang style bridge, and a Jazzmaster/Jaguar style floating vibrato.
This template set includes a main body template, neck pocket template, and a pickguard template. A main control plate template is also included, which can be combined with the pickguard template to make a one piece pickguard for a different look.
The body and neck pocket templates include registration holes along the center line. If you use screws to hold the templates to the wood you’re routing, the holes will help keep everything lined up between templates. They are located so that the holes will be hidden under the pickguard.
Recommended dimensions and routing depths are:
-
Body Thickness: 1 5/8"
- Neck Pocket Depth: 5/8"
- Pickup Cavity Depth: 5/8"
- Switch Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
- Volume/Tone/Output Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
- Vibrato Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
- Bridge Thimble Hole Depths: 1 3/16"
- Roundover Radius: 7/16"
The Electric XII pickups can be ordered from Curtis Novak.
Needing the matching metal main control plate to go with the templates? I have them here.
I also carry the matching neck template as part of a set, for those wanting to build your own neck.
