Electric XII Guitar Routing Templates

  • $60.00

Originally available between 1965 and 1969, this 12 string electric guitar was known for its jangly tone. Original parts are hard to come by these days, so here we have a version made to use modern parts to create an instrument with a similar feel and vibe.

This template set includes the main body template with all necessary routs and holes for mounting the 12 string bridge. You also get the matching pickguard template with the cool split pickups, a neck pocket routing template, and the control plate templates.

The body and neck pocket templates include registration holes along the center line. If you use screws to hold the templates to the wood you’re routing, the holes will help keep everything lined up between templates. They are located so that the holes will be hidden under the pickguard.

Recommended dimensions and routing depths are:

  • Body Thickness: 1 5/8"
  • Neck Pocket Depth: 5/8"
  • Pickup Cavity Depth: 5/8"
  • Switch Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
  • Volume/Tone/Output Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
  • Roundover Radius: 7/16"

The matching 12 string neck and Gotoh 12 string bridge that work with this template set are available from Warmoth.

The Electric XII pickups can be ordered from Curtis Novak. The vintage style option should be the ones to order.

If you'd prefer to make your own neck, I do have the matching hockey stick neck template available as part of a set. Also, Stratocaster and Jazzmaster necks are compatible with this set if you'd prefer to build a unique 6 string instrument. Gotoh makes a 6 string bridge that would work for this purpose.

I also carry the stainless steel main control plate and bridge surround plate that work with these templates.
