Telecaster Guitar Routing Templates
The original solid body electric guitar. A classic that’s been around for over 60 years.
This template set includes the main body template, a neck pocket template, a neck template with matching vintage headstock, and two different pickguard templates. The neck pocket template has additional routs for a P90 neck pickup as well as a “Nashville” style middle Strat pickup. The two different pickguard templates included are set up for either the standard Tele neck pickup or a P90 pickup. The body template also has the rout for a Jazzmaster vibrato, because, well, any guitar is better with a Jazzmaster vibrato on it!
The body and neck pocket templates include registration holes along the center line. If you use screws to hold the templates to the wood you’re routing, the holes will help keep everything lined up between templates. They are located so that the holes will be hidden under the pickguard, bridge, and neck.
Recommended dimensions and routing depths are:
Body Thickness: 1 3/4"
- Neck Pocket Depth: 5/8"
- Neck Pickup Cavity Depth: 3/4" (1" for some aftermarket pickups)
- Bridge Pickup Cavity Depth: 7/8" (1" for some aftermarket pickups)
- Switch/Volume/Tone Cavity Depth: 1 1/2"
- Vibrato Cavity Depth: 1 1/2"
- Bridge Thimble Hole Depths: 1 3/16"
- Roundover Radius: 1/8" Vintage, 1/4" Modern
Needing the matching metal control plate to go with the templates? I have them here.
Building a Snakehead Tele? I carry that matching neck template as part of a set.
