Telemaster (Strat Heel) Guitar Routing Templates

  • $60.00

A different take on two classic instruments. This template set mashes up the Jazzmaster outline with the control layout of the Telecaster for an unmistakably cool hybrid.

This template set includes the main body template, a neck pocket template, and a pickguard template. The neck pocket template has an additional rout for a Jazzmaster neck pickup as well as holes for a Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang bridge. The body template also has the rout for a Jazzmaster vibrato, because, well, any guitar is better with a Jazzmaster vibrato on it!

You also get two small templates for the string-thru-body ferrules, one for 5/16" flanged ferrules, and the other for 3/8" flush-fit ferrules.

The body and neck pocket templates include registration holes along the center line. If you use screws to hold the templates to the wood you’re routing, the holes will help keep everything lined up between templates. They are located so that the holes will be hidden under the pickguard, bridge, and neck.

Recommended dimensions and routing depths are:

  • Body Thickness: 1 5/8"
  • Neck Pocket Depth: 5/8"
  • Neck Pickup Cavity Depth: 3/4" (1" for some aftermarket pickups)
  • Bridge Pickup Cavity Depth: 7/8" (1" for some aftermarket pickups)
  • Switch/Volume/Tone Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
  • Vibrato Cavity Depth: 1 3/8"
  • Bridge Thimble Hole Depths: 1 3/16"
  • Roundover Radius: 7/16"

Needing the matching metal control plate(s) to go with the templates? I have the Telecaster plates here, and hardtail plates here.

This template set is made to fit 25.5" scale necks with rounded heels, like on a Stratocaster or Jazzmaster. I carry the matching neck templates as part of a set, for those wanting to build their own neck.
